What to wear in dubai?

I am travelling to Dubai this week. What is appropriate dress for a young american woman travelling in this region?

You ca wear whatever you want. I go often to Dubai and it is really a modern emirate. I can say that no problem with mini skirt, you guess the rest.
P.S. Of course there will be men looking at you, but they are really respectful, they just look.

Dubai is very modern and cosmopolitan; the locals are accustomed to seeing Westerners dressed as we do at home. It is respectful to the local culture to avoid shorts and sleeveless shirts, but you don't have to cover up like a Muslim. You will certainly see other people there in miniskirts and other racey clothes, but I recommend just being a bit modest and you'll be fine.

Wear modest clothing. You don't need to wear long clothes; shorts are fine. Just don't wear them too tight. Jeans, trousers, skirts and capris are widely worn by many. Just stay away from revealing and/or too tight clothes. People don't stare if you wear shorts or something, but some men might if you wear revealing clothes. However, that's all they do, thankfully!
