Travel Tips Sharjah American International School (informally referred to as SAIS) is a K-12, non-coed educational institution, founded in 1997 by Dr. Aisha Al Sayar, former assistant undersecretary of the Ministry of Education, and Dr. Nawaf Fawaz, in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. Fully accredited by the Commission on International and Trans-Regional Accreditation (CITA) in 2000, SAIS awards an American High School Diploma upon completion of the required coursework by the end of Grade 12. The school attains its status as an international community; in addition to the middle eastern students, the student body represents various other nations from Pacific and South Asia, Africa, Australia, and North America. This, coupled with the school's small size, creates a closed-knit and intellecutal environment for the students.
