What to wear in Sharjah, UAE? |
Travel Info Hi... I am of south Asian origin relocating from US to Sharjah in a couple of months. I am aware that it is extremely hot and humid in UAE so I am shopping for clothes which suite that whether. My question is regarding the attire. I am not a Muslim but I always dress modestly. Can you guys give me any suggestions as to what to bring, because summer styles here might not be compatible there. Can I bring cparice style trousers, which go couple of inches passing the knee but above the ankle. Can I wear them in public? And how long should the sleeves be in a blouse. Can it be like a shirt style? You know one or two inches long or should it be 3/4 sleeves. I would love to hear from everyone and please don't limit it to women clothing but also talk about male clothing. Travel Tips Thanks for asking, but do not worry about a thing. When you buy some clothes for this hot humid weather here you should care about the material. Cotton and Rayon are the best. Buy lose fit clothes coz they feel more comfortable then tight clothes while sweating. Sharja is more conservative then the other Emirates. For private: Pants, (also Capris), skirts over the knee and tops with short sleeves. NO Shorts in public unless you are at the beach. Take care how you get dressed when you go to goverment places, like applying for your visa. There it's the best to wear pants or long skirst with a top/blouse with long sleeves. Do no get rid of your clothes you might like but do not want to wear in Sharia. You can wear them in Dubai. Btw: Do not spend to much money on buying clothes. Buy the material here and take it to a tailor. They are great and cheap! Male can wear anything. Would not recommend shorts and tank tops unless at the beach. If you need any more information or help, feel free to email me. You might like to read this posting about Sharja: http://www.mouthshut.com/review/sharjah-... Take care Source(s): living in Abu Dhabi Other Travel Tips The whole of the uae, although being a muslim country is very much flexible as far as clothing is concerned and that includes Sharjah too, provided you are dressed decently and dont want to attract unwanted ''extra attention''.....Western clothing of all types is easily accepted without any hassles., except a 1 piece / 2 piece bikini in a shopping mall..!!! and as of date, theres not a single mall located bang on the beach... guess the last part answers answers your query. Have a nice landing....ciao / goodluck There are many people from all over the world in UAE. Many women wear miniskirts and shorts here and many wear sleeveless shirts. You can find many shops in Sharjah that sells those kind of clothes I'm living in Dubai hmmmmmmmm ..1/5 naked..!!! U can find everything you want in UAE no need to buy anything from the US You can find really cheap clothes &latest Designers trends. dont worry. |
