Salary/benefits for journalists in Dubai? |
Travel Info I'm interviewing for a position working as a financial journalist in Dubai. I have two years of experience, a bachelors degree in Middle Eastern Studies and a masters in econ. What would be the ballpark for annual salaries and fringe benefits? Travel Tips Hi! Sorry - I can麓t give you any figures. I just wanted to say that I麓ve been told that things there aren麓t all what they are hyped up to be. Life there is apparently VERY expensive, not to mention rents, so to actually earn money, your salary has to be VERY large. I know a German financial advisor here who has had contacts with those in Dubai. He was there for a while, but decided not to get involved in that area of the world after all. But he does know his way around, and knows some people there in that field. If you need advice about something specific, maybe he can help a bit. At the moment he is recovering from an accident, but perhaps later - he is a very nice person and would probably be happy to help later. Just let me know! Good luck!! Others Non-Gulf Arabs tend to make a low salary in the UAE. But sometimes these salaries are higher than their home countries so they are tempted by the job offers. I would recommend that you don't come without a housing package because that expense will wipe out any money that you make. Then look at the salary if housing is provided. Traffic in Dubai is horrible with 2-4 hours of your day spent commuting. It is a big consideration. |
