Dubai in mid August?

Travel Info
1. most travel books discourage visiting Dubai in August at all. should I go during that period considering im flying from London and my friend is flying from Singapore. would we be able to get used to the very hot temperature in a short time?
2. what are the things to do and places to see if we have a week to spend in Dubai?
3. I would like to visit other places outside of Dubai. Can you please recommend some areas?
Thanks

Surf through Astrid's webpage and find all kind of usefull information.

Here you'll find more information about the other Emirates. Taking a trip I would recommend to visit the capital Abu Dhabi and take a look at the Emirates palace. Also Al Ain is a visit worth especially going up on Jelbel Hafees.
If you would like to rent a car, please do not forget your intl. drivers license.

In August it will not only be very hot, it also will be very humid and not cool off a bid at night. You might like to enjoy indoor activities much more than outdoors. Nobody can say if you will get used to this kind of heat. This varries from person to person. Just take the right clothes with you. Watch the material and avoid tight fitting clothes.

If you need some more information, please feel free to contact be by email.

Take care and have fun. Source(s): living in Abu Dhabi

well tht's right during august, it's very hot and humid. as far as non-recommendation is considered...........i don't think so tht this word shoud b used, no matter whch ever part of world u belong to. it depends on personal choice, during summer u could enjoy the beech, the offers, the quiteness and less traffic. but all HOT :)
outside dubai, i'll strongly recommend u to visit al-ain. the city of flowers, yes it's also a hot place but not humid. u could go at top of a hill called as jabel hafeet as well as u could n-joy the greenery at it's feet. just pay a visit and c how the technology is utilized in getting tht greenery. also u could n-joy the hotel at it's top or the shalley''s beside the garden.
u can also roam around abu-dhabi. go and check the marts, the malls. n-joy the corniche.but all HOT
the rest of the emirates are as well to make a trip, but it would depend the no of days u'l b here.the desert safari i don't know if they'll take u in desert during the evening time !!!!
one good think u find here is u can rent a car as "h" informed u, but if u r going to use ur international license that is only valid with in the premesis of dubai only or a max of 40 kms . this u would have to check with the authorities.
if u could delay ur trip for a month it would b better.
