Here are the top 5 attractions in Dubai:

1) Visit Burj Al Arab (being the only 7 star hotel in the world) & also Jumeira Beach Hotel which is right beside it, and then the Wild Wadi, which is an amazing water park. All of the 3 mentioned attractions are one, because they are the same company. Ask them for a buggie to take you from one hotel to another.

2) Go to the Mall of the Emirates. Main mall for shopping & indoors skiing.

3) The 4WD Safari is a must, while there ask them for sand skiing.

4) Depends where you stay, you might have a private beach in your hotel. But if not, go to Jumeira public beach, it's nice.

5) Finally, go to the International Village where there are stands from all countries of the world, they sell stuff and there are live performances. This is a seasonal thing, it is not there all the time.

It depends a little what time of the year you are going. Because of the heat in the summer you can hardly do anything outside.

My Top 5 when I have visitors from Europe:
- visit Burj Al Arab
- Desert Safari
- Mall of the Emirates with the Ski-Dome (and of course go skiing if they are up to it)
- Textile Souk in Bur Dubai then take the Abra to cross the Creek and visit the Gold Souk in Deira
- Madinat Jumeirah indoor Souk and Canal Restaurants
