What is the criteria for designating a train as superfast on Indian Railways? |
Travel Info It appears that there are no official guidelines for designating a train as superfast. I want to know if this is the case Travel Tips if the total distance to be traveled for the entire route by a train exceeds an average of 50 kmph, it is designated as a superfastt train. for example, if a total of 1000 km is covered in 20 hours or less, it is designated as a superfast train. Others I believe if the total distance to be covered for the entire route by a train exceeds the average of 50 kms per hour, it is designated as a superfast train. Say total of 1000 kms need to be covered in less than 20 hours to be designated as a superfast train - inclusive of all halts/stoppages. Look for other views as well. i think superfast ticket more expensive compare than express , and some station remain. not faster than express ................................. Experiance Well asper Indian Railways super fast trains are one which stops at limited stations..... but the problem is its slower that other trains as it is not allowed to stop on stations so it has to stop midway between stations... Nominally, a superfast train should have a commercial speed in excess of 55km/h on BG. On MG, the minimum commercial speed used to be 45km/h for classification as superfast, but there have not been any MG superfasts for some time now. irfca.org |
