US Dollars in Vancouver? |
Travel Info I have quite a few US dollars and we are going to Vancouver later this month. Are they accepted there? by, for example cab drivers?. No disrespect to the Canadians, just it would save me changing pounds in to Canadian Dollars since as I am going on a cruise, would not expect to spend more than circa 拢100 in Vancouver. Will be using credit cards for meals etc Travel Tips The US$ dropped to a $1.09 Canadian today. At that rate many places will only take US money at par. If you are OK with that then don't bother exchanging it for CAD. However, depending on how much you have accumulated you may want to drop into a bank when you arrive and exchange it then. It only takes a few minutes, and is worth it. That way you'll save yourself the hassle of asking what the exchange rate is all the time, or from a shopkeeper/clerks perspective, the dreaded "How much is that in US?" question. Have a great time, it's a fantastic city. Others The Canadians will accept US$ but will kick the *** out of the exchange rateand you will get ripped off. You are better off just getting some canadian $. absolutely, you can spend american dollars in bc. all i can say is be careful of the exchange rate, unless your a a big spender.\\have a good time. us dollars ok best rate at banks or use travellers checks.. Vancouver is a Canadian city. Canadian currency is the legal tender in a Canadian city. If you try to use US money, you will likely find the cabbie will tell you he can't give you exchange on the money and will accept it at par. If you're cool with that, then that's up to you. However, if you are planning on doing any shopping, taking in any tourist sights etc.etc. you will either need to use your credit card or change some of your money to Canadian dollars. |
