I'm planning to go and work in vancouver, bc. Any guidelines or advice for new residents? |
Travel Info i have a cat, so i don't know if i will be able to take him with me. Travel Tips Where are you coming from? I am from Vancouver, very nice city. There are a lot of landlords out there that don't mind tenants with pets. Especially if you are renting a basement suite. If you don't know where you will be staying yet, steer clear of East Van, Especially around Hastings or East Broadway. There are a lot of rentals there, but it is a very scurvy and unpleasant area. Kitsilano is nice, has a lot of rentals and is near the beach. Lots of panhandlers though. Don't give them money, you are only feeding their addiction. I don't know what else to say. Others You can visit the British Columbia website http://www.gov.bc.ca/bvprd/bc/home.do... There you'll find information about education, healthy living, jobs and economy and many more useful links. You could also try http://www.canada.gc.ca/othergov/prov_e.... for more information. I have friends in BC and are pet owners. I don't know if you're worried about the weather but I don't think your pet is going to be a problem. Enjoy living in Canada! Rent is cheaper in the suburbs . We live in Burnaby $ 650.00 for a one bedroom apt. Get a monthly bus pass. register for BC Medical Plan soon as possible..We pay $ 96.00 a month for two people. Pharmacare is based on your income. avoid the east end of vancouver. Hope you're rich! If not, live in a suburb like Surrey or White Rock. |
