Traveling to Vancouver, Canada? |
Travel Info I am going to Vancouver in late August for a Alaska Cruise. Does anyone have ideas to where to eat in Vancouver and what to see while we are there? Any help would be great. Will be staying in Vancouver. Very excited.... Thanks so much Travel Tips As a resident, I can say Vancouver has TONS of great dining locations. Check out these sites: www.vancouverrestaruantguide.n... and www.vancouver-bc.com/dining. Certainly check out Stanley Park (http://vancouver.ca/parks/parks/stanley/... ). If you are into long walks, cycling, etc, the sea wall is really cool. Despite the rain, we're very much an outdoor city. If your dates line up, take in our Shakespeare festival ( http://www.bardonthebeach.org ), or the fireworks at the end of July, beginning of August ( http://www.hsbccelebrationoflight.com... ). If you have transportation, have dinner at horizons restaurant ( http://www.horizonsrestaurant.com... ) in Burnaby - it has a great view of the vancouver area from high on a hilltop at the east end of the city. Alternatively, The observatory restaurant is located at the top of grouse mountain ( http://www.grousemountain.com ) , a ski hill just north of the city. When in the city, check out Robson street for the shops and places to eat. Play the "Starbucks game" - take any route from one place to another in the city and count the Starbucks on the way - you will pass at least 6 Starbucks in the city. I hope the weather will hold out for you. Others I stayed at the howard johnson downtown. It's about 100 bucks a night and very nice. There are plenty of small restaurants to eat at in Vancouver. Just find a place, there are a lot of chinese places if you get to china town. |
