What's a better honeymoon spot: Vancouver or Montreal? |
Travel Info What's a better honeymoon spot: Vancouver or Montreal? Travel Tips It depends what you're into and what you're looking for. Vancouver is beautiful, green and the pace of life there is a little slower. There's some great hiking and natural sightseeing. Think a California attitude mixed in the weather in Seatle. So it's rather laid back, but cold and wet. Montreal is a great city. If Toronto were the stuffy, uptight businessman then Montreal would be the boozy, fun loving uncle that everybody loves. Montreal has a lot of European charm to it, especially in the old city. But for a real European treat, I'd check out the old city in Quebec city. It's so much like Europe there that it's not funny. There's some fabulous nightlife there, some excellent restaurants and some of the best bagels in North America. Of course no trip to Montreal is complete without doing the following: You have to sit in an outdoor cafe in Place Jacques Cartier, or just about anywhere else and just people watch. You have to have a bagel from St. Viateur, possibly one of the best bagels you will ever have in your life. You have to have a smoked meat sandwich with a pickle and Pepsi. Anything less and you're missing part of the Montreal experience. Don't worry if you don't speak French, a lot of Montrealers do speak a certain amount of English. It is recommended however that you try to speak a few words. Others Depends on what you like, if you enjoy nature, outdoors, etc, go to Vancouver. If you like a more Cosmopolitan city, go to Montreal. Both cities are great. Depends on what type 鈥渃ulture鈥?you are looking for. Both have a thriving Arts and Culture community, fabulous food, great shopping, and lots to see and do. If you are looking for romantic European charm, then go to Montreal. If mountains, water, and hiking are more your thing, then come to Vancouver! I would choose Montreal. Both cities are great and very different, however Montreal is special. Not only do you that that old world charm, but the city itself if beautiful. The surrounding area of Vancouver is better, but Montreal is not far behind in that regard. Montreal has better nightlife and restaurants than Vancouver, not by a huge amount but enough to make a difference. Montreal is like getting a European honeymoon for Canada prices. Toss a coin! There is much more to see and do, and more clubs and performing arts, and a wider variety of restaurant cuisines, in Montreal, and it is a far more romantic city than in Vancouver, but the mountains are higher and closer to Vancouver, and of course the sea is there. The lovely small city of Victoria is also just a boat ride away (I would actually advise to you that you should stay longer in Victoria than in Vancouver). Also, in BC you will have the full spectrum of Canada's (some equalling the world's best) greatest wines; in Qu茅bec just a few B.C. wines are sold. The surrounding countryside is beautiful and lovely at Montr茅al; it is spectacular at Vancouver. For a nearby trek into the States you have Seattle for the latter, Vermont for the former; certainly among the very best parts of the US. Vancouver lots to see and do beaches mountains sightseeing..see tourismvancouver hellobc lived and loving it 67 years |
