I will be in Vancouver on August 4th to 6th. What neighborhood should I stay in? Looking for value & location? |
Travel Info we're a couple, late 20's, want a safe area, and a proximity to touristy stuff... Travel Tips You wanna be in the Downtown area because that's where most of the touristy stuff is. Yaletown, Gastown, Downtown, Granville Island, Stanley Park... You can also go to Playland if you're looking for some fun. There's rides to go on. www.pne.ca Have fun here. :D It's a great city. Source(s): local :) Other Travel Tips Yes. Sounds good. Chinatown, Gastown and take a trip on the Skytrain and a trip acrossed the Burrard Inlet to North Vancouver is nice. And depending on the weather a nice walk through Stanley Park and along the seawall to English Bay. I lived and worked there and lived just off of Robson in the Denman area. If your not sure ask the front desk at your hotel and they can refer you to the local tourist bureau. Try Metrotown in burnaby has a holiday inn at the sky train stn.. go to hellobc tourismvancouver. They will send you free guide books Try to avoid Chinatown after 6pm. All shops close at 6 anyway. Only a few restaurants are open. A great place to dine in Chinatown is Phnom Penh (Cambodian and Vietnamese cuisine!!). A must-eat is the Phnom Pehn deep fried chicken with a lime flavoured dipping sauce. 244 E. Georgia St (cross street is Main St). It's one block east of Main street. inexpensive too! Arrive before 6 and you will get seated for sure! Chinatown neighborhood is right next to Hastings Street (where the majority of homeless live). It is festered with prostitutes and drug users/dealers. Not a safe neighborhood to live in especially when you are planning on staying out late. Great place to visit during the day though!! don't stay in Chinatown, and don't go to burnaby its too far, and don't stay in Gastown. All those places are nice to visit but not stay There are hotels on Robson street (which is the main street in vancouver). Davie street. Denman Street. Or Yaletown if you have a bit more money. |
