Travel Info I need travel advice in Vancouver - has anyone rented a car and driven from Vancouver to Victoria? Travel Tips You cannot drive from Vancouver to Victoria. You need to take a ferry. When you go on the ferry you have to pay for yourself and the car. So if you are renting a car in Vancouver, you might as well just rent one in Victoria. You save like $40 each way. Others why would you? Why not just take the ferry(like you need to do anyway) and pay as a pedestrian and then rent a car in Victoria I agree... take the ferry as a pedestrian and then rent a car in Vic. I have done the trip a few times. No one has ever rented a car and driven from Vancouver to Victoria. Vancouver is on the Mainland, Victoria is on an Island (confusingly, it's called Vancouver Island and many tourists don't realize that Vancouver is not on Vancouver Island.) Your best bet is to fly to Vancouver, take a bus to Victoria (it goes from downtown Vancouver to downtown Victoria and includes the ferry ride), rent a car in Victoria if you want to see something of the Island, then take the bus back to Vancouver. If you rent a car in Vancouver, you're going to pay an additional $90 to go to and from Vancouver Island, and there's no point to that! $90 will buy a lot of cups of tea at the Empress Hotel!!! walk on the ferry and rent in victoria.. line ups at the ferrys are long and boring.. and its cheaper by far to walk on.. |
