I want to move to British Columbia and I am looking for the warmest dryest area during winter.? |
Travel Info I currently live in Ontario and have never liked the cold/snow. I do love the outdoors and want an area that can facilitate year round activity without the hassles of snow and bitter cold. I also have eczema (skin irritation) that is aggravated during winter months here due to dry cold conditions. Travel Tips Due to the proximity to the coast Vancouver and Victoria recieve alot of rain in the winter. Kelowna, Penticton area of the Okanagan Valley get a little colder during the winter but usually only a few degrees below freezing so while the Vancouver area is warmer, the Okanagan is drier. Take your pick. Okanagan gets very hot in summer high 30's and low 40's. Source(s): lived in both areas Other Travel Tips victoria The city of Richmond has one of the lowest precipitation rates in BC and also the highest life expectancy according to a recent study. Victoria might have slightly higher temperatures but then, it might not. Having said all this you might want to consider finding work first and move close to where you work. The GVRD (Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond, New Westminster) is notorious for traffic. Rush hour gets worse and worse every year and the government is not willing to build/fix the road system. Public transit is ok if you are in the right corridor. the okanagan valley Victoria is the driest most temperate city in Canada. Also check out Summerland, B.C. and Kelowna, B.C. Um. Warmest and dryest aren't the same areas. The Similkameen area is the driest, but it gets pretty cold. The Vancouver/Victoria or Lower Mainland area is the warmest, but it can get pretty wet. However, there is rarely more than a dusting of snow, to make things look nice around Christmas. The Okanagan area is dry and cold, with very little snow, so that would probably aggravate your eczema condition. The Lower Mainland area definitely has year round activity -- people there play golf and tennis all winter long and there are joggers everywhere. |
