Calgary, you'll be looking at 6 months of snow and cold followed by 2 months of mud and slush, followed by 4 months of dusty insane heat and nasty soccer-ball sized mosquitoes and black flies. I'll take my beachside, insect-less, oceanfront city any day, even if it is wetter than most places. Want to know something surprising though? New York City gets more precipitation on average in a year than Vancouver. You don't hear the New Yorkers complaining. Its only the newbies to Vancouver that gripe about the weather. Others Calgary it have more potential for construction. There are around 150 civil engineers listed for Calgary and around 580 for Vancouver (see weblinks below). Vancouver is now a hot spot for the construction - due to the 2010 Olympic. BUT it's terribly expensive to live on an average income. A tiny, 2-bedroom flat is around $2,000,000 CDN. It's wet ( average rain fall: 2000 mm/year), and continuously gray. You don't even need to keep your small red fish in a bowl..it can swim freely from one room to another :-))))))))))) BTW, do you know what does BC stand for? Scroll down..... Bring Cash :-)))))))))))))) Good luck in finding a good job and a decent place to live. I suggest that you ignore Goldista's answers. For one thing - you can buy a Condominium Unit in Vancouver for CAN $300,000 to $400,000. The Summers are beautiful and in the winter you have a five star Resort at Whistler.
