Travel Info While in Vancovuer, which places are a must see? Travel Tips The capital of British Columbia is Victoria. Its major cities includes Vancouver, Victoria and Abbotsford. Vancouver is Canada's busiest port growing rapidly due to immigration from Hongkong and other places in East Asia. It has Chinatown & Japantown. The trans-Canada railway , which crosses all over Canada ends in Vancouver. Some enjoy the mountain scenery and mountain resorts. Do you know how to ski? Well, that is popular here during winter. Victoria requires a long ferry trip (2 hours), and usually you have to wait in line for hours to catch a ferry. If you can afford it its not all that much more expensive to fly over on small plane & takes much less time. I can't think of the name of the airline though. Definitely also try to make it to Victoria. There is a ferry going every 2 hours. Trip is about 1.5 hours. Weather has not been great there recently. Too bad you are not going in the springtime. Granville Island. I go to Victoria frequently, in my car, and have never waited more than one hour. Some people have their heads in the clouds. If you take the Bus - you always get on the next Ferry. When you get to Victoria - have a meal at the Blue Crab. Must See: Metro Town! (big mall) :) The Sky Train is pretty fun, too. Be sure to take it somewhere. :) North Vancouver has some cool markets and things. If you do it leisurly, a week is about right. For example, most people do a day trip for Victoria, but I would rather spend the night and come back the next day. Places like Stanley Park & Gastown, 1 day. Shopping and Metrotown, 1 day. Granville Island, 1 day. North Vancouver & joining areas, 1 day. Add or subtract a place or two to suit yourself. |
