What could i say about the weather & climat in vancouver? |
Travel Info im writing a report on vancouver (i dont actuall live there) & i need to say a bit on its weather & climat Travel Tips well - the fact that we are hemmed in by sea on one side and mountains on the other makes us a pretty classic example of the "temperate coastal rainforest" >> Temperate rain forests are distinguished from other temperate forests by a few factors: Rainfall: high rainfall (minimum 2,000-3,000 mm/year, depending on latitude), usually from moisture-laden winds off the ocean. Proximity to the ocean: temperate rain forests depend on the proximity to the ocean to moderate seasonal variations in temperature, creating milder winters and cooler summers than continental-climate areas. Many temperate rain forests have summer fogs that keep the forests cool and moist in the hottest months. The winters are very moderate and there may be one or two sprinkles of snow during the average winter, but it doesn't hang around. The spring and fall are the wet months - but the summer is glorious. Because of Vancouver's proximity to the water, it never gets screamingly hot. Mid-70s is the average high from about mid-May through to the end of September. Because of the mild weather, Vancouver is noted for outdoor activities and is the home of thousands and thousands of runners, golfers, sailors, paddlers, rowers, etc.etc. As it also has mountains, with three major ski areas less than an hour away, you can ski and play tennis outdoors, on the same day. In fact, towards the end of the ski season, you can ski in the morning, and spend the afternoon at the beach. moderate summers...rainy winters...vancouver is in the middle of a rainforest. I heard it rained 6 weeks straight last year! |
