Vancouver Island: Good Family Areas to Stay? |
Travel Info Hello. Our family is planning to go to Vancouver Island this summer and we are looking for areas to stay. Obviously we want somewhere to stay where there are plenty of activities to do and we also have 1 surfer in the group. Thanks for ideas! Travel Tips Vancouver Island is a great place to visit with the family. It's full of green parks and coastline, all giving fun outdoor adventures and exploration. I would stay in the heart of things - Victoria. Plenty to do there. Undersea gardens, miniature world, wax museum, Beacon Hill Park and petting zoo.... Even Butchart Gardens may appeal to them, depends on the taste of your kids. If you are looking for surfing, you need to hit the west coast. Tofino is the big one. Also lots of beach exploring there for everyone in Pacific Rim National Park. If you don't have time or transportation to get there, Sooke near Victoria has some surfing. So I would suggest Victoria and Tofino, but if you are making that trip there is lots of places to stop along the way. Coombs/Parksville area. There is fun mini golf there. Parksville are the better Island beaches. Combs also some has a butterfly world, Bird forest and some neat shopping. Check out this link for further ideas. It has kids ideas, but also search it by town. Source(s): http://www.vancouverisland.com/attractio... Other Travel Tips Definitely check out Tofino.... one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited. because of the surfer you'll likely want to check out Long Beach/Tofino, but last summer for part of the time they didn't have any drinking water. I'm biased about the quieter Northern part of the island... there are lots of water activities, parks, etc., wherever you go on the island. |
