How easy would it be for an American Nurse to emigrate to Vancouver, BC?

Travel Info
Looking for a new country to live, how long would it take to emigrate to Canada (Vancouver)?

Travel Tips
If you can line up a job in advance, and the employer will sponsor you, you could conceivably get a work visa in 6-9 months ... maybe sooner, depends on the backlog and circumstances.

Otherwise, the immigration process takes 1-3 or more years, and costs around $1,200 in application fees and other costs, depending on the class of immigration. With your profession and the need for medical workers in Canada, I am thinking your chances of being accepted are good.

More information and all the application forms and instructions are available here:

Other Travel Tips
Not long, I don't think.

Google something like "work as nurse in Canada." Looks to be a bit of a popular idea.

"You can apply for Canadian Permanent Residence for you and your family once you have completed one year of full time employment in Canada."

There is such an extreme shortage of nurses in BC they will pay you to move here right now - just contact the BC Association of Nurses - you can have your pick of hospital and specialty..... and really good pay.
Apparently there's a shortage of qualilfied nursing staff in Canada. You should be able to find a job and get the employer to push the right buttons to get you into the country.
Depends on where you live, skilled worker visas take from 1 to 5 years, check www.cic.gc.ca processing times for your country

You may go through the provincial nominee so it may be faster, but for BC you need a job first, try to get one as there is a shortage, I've heard there is shortage of nurses so it may not be that hard for you to find one

In the worst case scenario I'd rather move to Alberta, there is an article today about a nurse who moved there from Ontario in the Toronto Star www.thestar.com
