How much time does it take from Vancouver to Surrey,or Vancouver to Burnaby? |
Travel Info If i settle in Vancouver,how can i get to Surrey and how much does it take for example? Is that easy to study in Surrey and live in Vancouver if our campus is in Surrey or i should get a doorm in Surrey? Travel Tips The answer depends on several factors: 1) Location of where you live 2) Mode of Transportation 3) Location of destination 4) Days and time of travel Probably the best choice of transportation between Vancouver downtown and either Burnaby or Surrey is the Sky Train. The closer both your home and your destination are to the sky train, the better and faster it will be, as the fewer busses you will have to take to get to Sky Train stations. You can look up the Sky Train station locations on the web. You will find that generally speaking, rents are lower in Burnaby and Surrey than they are in Vancouver. There are some areas of Surrey to avoid (whalley in particular). You will also want to avoid renting in the downtown east Vancouver, anything east of Nanaimo on up to Burnaby and including Burnaby isn't bad though. As far as length of commute in time, it depends on from where to where and how many legs of the journey there are (walking time, busses, waiting, skytrain, etc). Commuting by car can be a real headache, because you have to cross one of three bridges to get from/to Surrey from Burnaby or Vancouver. Parking is also often a problem. In short, it's not too bad to commute between these various areas, depending again on locations, but as always, the shorter the commute, the easier it is on you. Added note: cost of public transportation is more if you are crossing boundary road in Burnaby ... i.e. if you travel from Vancouver into Burnaby (Vancouver and Burnaby are divided by Boundary road) you are taking transit in two zones, so the cost goes up. If you live in Burnaby and commute to Surrey, you just travel in one zone, and cost is less. Others Yeah or you could use the Skytrain I think a monthly pass is quite reasonable, Van to bby well i live on the border of bby in van so 2 mins If your studying a daily trip will kill you. The bridge sucks both ways during traffic. The commute will tire you out and you won't be able to study. If school is in Surrey live in surrey and the accommodations will be cheaper, just stay out of Whally. When you want to hit the town you just take skytrain and have a great time. Better to stay in Surrey cheaper rents The sky train is the easiest way to get back and forth from downtown Vancouver and takes around 1/2 hour 1-3 hours drive at rush hour Sky train also runs to Burnaby and you would get student rates depends where you want to stay...go to www.translink.com for bus/skytrain schedules/fares. if you drive traffic is a big factor. if you transit that makes for a really long day. to maximize your learning potential why not look for an apartment in Surrey or Delta even Langley. i commuted for school from Langley to newwest and i found myself exhausted by the time i got home. but langley to surrey isn't that bad of a commute. |
