Vancouver Neighbourhoods? |
Travel Info What Vancouver areas are good and inexpensive (rent), and what areas do you avoid moving to? Travel Tips Vancouver is surrounded by lots of suburbs that are easily accessed by public transit. In particular you may want to research areas close to the Skytrain. Areas to consider are Burnaby, New Westminster, Coquitlam, Surrey, North Vancouver -- all accessible by skytain. In Vancouver itself you just mainly want to stay away from the downtown east side. There are a wide variety of prices in each area, you just have to search a little. Also to note that West Vancouver is different from the West End. (confusing I know) Good luck with your search -- classifieds in the Vancouver Sun and the Vancouver Province should give you a good idea of rental prices. Others Kingsway/Main area 1 bedroom start at 650.00 there are some nice apartments in the area I would move to NewMinister instead...most 1 bedroom start at 600.00 and close to sky train As with any large city there are trouble areas everywhere and of course stay away from East Hastings at night west end/ kitsilano good areas but more expensive marpole not bad you don't want to be anywhere near the downtown lower east side burnaby/east vancouver all okay depends on what you want. I would avoid east vancouver even though it might be cheap but its not the best area of vancouver! West vancouver is expensive so avoid that too... North vancouver might be good i lived there and its not that expensive...hope that helped! i cant think of other areas at the moment... |
