Why does Vancouver suck? It's dirty and gross? |
Travel Info I'm from Toronto and I visited Vancouver last week, and it was beautiful with the mountains but your city ruins the view. There is pollution all over the place, big dirty factories, garbage all over the street, and XXX clubs everywhere. Most of the people I met were extremely rude and disrespectful. I'm glad I live in Toronto, and I'm glad that Toronto is the city people usually think of when they think of Canada. It's clean here and people are friendly, and we have a beautiful lake, and our city actually compliments the lake instead of making it look ugly like Vancouver does to the Pacific and mountains. Travel Tips Congratulations! You have confirmed that people from Toronto think they are the center of the Universe. You have also singlehandedly blown the popular myth that Canadians are polite, kind and open. You go girl! For the record: I am supposing you visited one small area of Vancouver around Hastings and Main, or Whalley in Surrey. If I visited the comparable places in Toronto (and I know they exist) and nothing else, I would definitely leave Toronto feeling much the same. It makes me sad that such a beautiful country is darkened by small minded and judgemental ignoramouses. Hey Canadians .. America isn't the only country that has them! you obviously do too! Others I actually live here. Well not in the city. I live 45 minutes away. You're kinda right...but it's kinda mean I'm from the states, but I like Ontario, since I live so close. My dad goes to Toronto a lot for business and likes it... All I can say is that I wish we had a tim hortons around here.. honestly I don't know why we don't.. What were smoking when you were here? i ve lived here for 67 years and not moving Sorry that you didn't like Vancouver. We went last year and had a good time. If you are proud of your hometown, why do you feel the need to trash another city in order to show your pride? You speak of rude and disrespectful people in Vancouver, but you don't set a very good example for the people of Toronto. I agree because Toronto is fun and there is alot to do here, and we are not far from other cities like Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Cleveland and NYC. And we have an NBA and MLB team!!! Oddly, it would appear that your own comments are rather rude and disrespectful, as well as judgmental. Vancouver has a population of about 600 000. I'm pretty sure in the week that you were there, you didn't meet enough to readily determine whether or not rude and disrespectful was the norm for Vancouver. In fact, were I to judge Toronto by your comments, I would be saying that people there are self-absorbed and have a warped sense of what Canada is because they see themselves at the archetypal Canadian when this is clearly not so. I would think that what I hear about Toronto from people who live in the rest of Canada (the 25 million Canadians that don't live there)....that it is so close to the US that it is more American than Canadian...is true. Further, I'd have to say that anyone who would make such a claim ("my city is better than yours") is probably rather juvenile in both their thinking and their judgment. Since I try not to judge by a limited exposure to either people or their cities, I do not think this. You can appreciate, however, how easily it would be to assume. I myself am from the country. No city that I've ever been to, including Toronto, complements the nature that it bulldozed over to build. If you've ever actually seen a lake unadulterated by a cityscape, you would know what I mean. |
