Travel Info I'm going to Venezuela and I'm from the U.S. ... will I need an adapter for the outlets there? Travel Tips Hi! I actually live in venezuela right now. I've been here for almost a year now and i can honestly tell u that u shouldn't need an adapter for the outlets. They use basically the same outlets that we use in the states. U may have a problem if u have something with a "3 prong" plug though. Most of the outlets here are only "2 prong". But u can remedy this by just purchasing a few adapters at Wal-Mart or something. They'll probably cost u a dollar or 2. Also invest in a good "surge-proctector". The power goes out here pretty often (like once a week at times), and that could really damage ur electrical devices. Others Not all electrical appliances can be converted, and you have to be VERY careful about that... or you'll blow up your appliances. The voltage is what you can convert... in the US, everything runs on 110V. Now if you have a computer, it comes with a little black box that goes between your computer and the outlet, right? That's a converter. So you can put a converter at the end of that plug, and you'll be able to use it in Venezuela. Now for an electrical shaver, or a blender, it's a different story.
