I think Austria could be visited at any time of the year but I think the landscape is most beautiful in spring (April, May). Then the fruit trees are blossoming (apples, pears,...) It is really beautiful. Summers in Austria are not too hot, so it is also possible for sightseeing, but also for hiking in the beautiful mountains or swimming in the lakes. If you want to visit towns like Salzburg, Vienna (many other towns are also very beautiful), you could come in December, before christmas, when the cities are enlighted and there are christmas markets. April to May- the weather is nice, the tourist are gone and the flowers and trees are blooming. If you want to ski, late january and March are good times for low crowds and lower prices.
