Do the inguanas in the US Virgin Islands bite? |
Travel Info Do the inguanas in the US Virgin Islands bite? Travel Tips well actually they can. this might not be what u wanna hear but i live here so i think i should tell u. if u ever try to touch or feed an iguana they most probably will bite as a sign of defence. but they have a greater weapon for defence. their tail. 8 out of 10 times an iguana will whip u instead of biting. and trust me it hurts. so to be on the safe side u ccan look at them and get close but dont feed or touch. hope it helps trust me ive had experience.!!!! :) Others In general they don't go around attacking people. If you poke it or something, yeah most likely it'll fight back. For the most part they are peaceful, unless you're an insect. Naaa, they'll run away before you could catch them. And they'll only bite if they're on the defense. If you agitate them, they're more likely to whip you with that powerfully painful tail. The don't have much in teeth, kinda like a snake or a fish mouth. WELL I HOPE THEM BITE U! No they don't bite. In fact they are more afraid that you will step on them. lol s Urban legend is that if you wear red toenail polish, they will mistake your piggies for tomatoes and try to eat them. They love fruit and veg and esp. red hibiscus. Sometimes the old ones get more aggressive, kind of like humans. The tail whipping answer is accurate, and any injury from reptiles get infected easy and take forever to heal. 10 years in St. Thomas, many iguana lovin' friends. |
