Has anyone ever been to St. Maartin?

I'm looking at honeymoon places---and I really like the looks of t. Maartin in the virgin islands.... has anyone ever been there? Are there any things that you reccomend doing while we are there? We are looking at the Oyster Bay Resort... Thanks!

We were there on a Carnival Cruise. It's the most beautiful place I've seen, and that was only for a day. The waters are so clear blue, and the white beaches. We shopped and had lunch at a little place called Rick's American Cafe. It was this little hole in the wall restaurant but the windows were floor to ceiling and opened up to the beach. You could literally walk out the window onto the beach. It was gorgeous. I'd go back there in a heartbeat.

yes. i've been there. it is a very wonderful place. i recomend that you go snorkling and shopping. the beaches are also very nice.
I recommend staying on the french side of the island, its quieter and more peaceful than the the dutch side, and the food is better.

I would recommend the La Semanna Hotel they do offer amazing honeymoon amenities.
St Maarten is not in the Virgin Islands. It's about 100 miles east in the West Indies. The island is shared with the French - French St Martin. The Dutch side is more built up than the French side. It's where the airport is, where the cruise ships dock and is where the bulk of the shopping is. The French side is well known for it's gourmet dining. Crossing from one country to the other is like passing from town to town. Just drive on in. Both sides are famous honeymoon desinations. St Martin/Maarten is much more expensive than the VI but if you want to spoil yourself it's well worth it.
