I want to go to the Virgin Islands for my Honeymoon, which island should I choose and why?

Travel Info
We are looking to enjoy the beach, go for some nature hikes in the mountains, and enjoy some night life. We don't have a lot of money but we are still leaning towards renting a villa instead of a crammed hotel room. From what I'm reading and finding on the internet, St. John's has the most Villas and the better hiking routes, St. Thomas has more night life, and I haven't found much on St. Croix. My fiance has more or less given me the task of putting together the honeymoon, and I want it to be perfect. I want the Virgin Islands so if you planned on telling me another place, don't bother. I'd love to hear personal stories good and bad of the islands and any tips. I love yahoo answers, thanks everybody!

Travel Tips
I have been in the Travel Business for 34 years and have visited these wonderful Islands many times. I have also booked hundreds of honeymooners there.

I could not recommend any place more than St. John for your honeymoon. It is one of my favorite Islands anywhere and trust me I have been everywhere.

Two-thirds of the island is designated as National Park! St. John is the most undeveloped, easygoing and laid back of the three major U.S. Virgin Islands. There are only two major resorts on the island, and the beaches are unspoiled by large hotels or development.

The main industry here is tourism, and there is plenty to do on St. John, despite its small size 鈥?just 28 square miles. A nature lover will have no problem keeping busy on St. John. The island offers many different hiking trails, including easy trails for inexperienced hikers and some even for the experienced hiker..

Snorkeling is also a favorite activity on St. John especially at Trunk Bay. Several of the island's beautiful beaches boast reefs teeming with colorful fish and underwater wildlife. Venture out on your own, or take advantage of a guided snorkeling tour.

There could be no better backdrop for a honeymoon without traveling half way around the world.

Need more incentive, the Duty Free Allowance in the USVI is $1,600 per person and you can bring back up to 6 bottles of alcohol. St. Thomas, a ferry boat ride away is great for shopping and of course nightlife.

I love Caneel Bay on St. John, but your thought of a villa is great as well. You would not be cramped in some of their rooms or cottages but they are expensive. For a very good reason though! It is paradise!

Stick with you USVI honeymoon plans and do not let anyone talk you out of that. It is perfect. Congratulations to you both, much happiness to you and have the most wonderful time together in paradise! Source(s): 34 years in the Travel Business and over 100 cruises. Been to most every Island in the Caribbean!
Other Travel Tips
I have always wanted to go to St. Thomas...not sure why.
Antigua- I went there for my honeymoon in April, it is beautiful, the people are friendly, you can walk anywhere on the island with no problem. And the crime rate is so low they told me there was only 5 murders for an entire year. There are also may things to do there, land tours, boat tours, swim with stingrays (which might I saw is wonderful). Have a great time.
Hey,

Well ask ur wife or u deiced cuz we all have different points of view.

god luck
I am not sure on your budget, this is a lesser knowen island in the BVI, but check out www.peterisland.com
I knew a couple who visited St. Croix, and stayed in a little beach house cabin type thing I guess it was... They had their own little patio that went out to the beach against the mountain side. So that would provide the beach life you want, and the mountain side for hiking I suppose. Although I am not sure if you can hike it or not. They brought back some pictures of them snorkeling and they were the coolest pictures. They said it was the best trip they'd ever gone on, and they plan to go back for their honeymoon this fall. Just what I heard... Maybe that helps?
