Anyone from or visited St. Croix? |
Travel Info I am doing a project for school and I need any information anyone has about the island, positive and negative. What about the locals, water supply, weather, transportation, air port, hotels, environment, cleanliness, etc. Travel Tips i am from st. croix what do you need to know. Go to wikipedia they have a hole history of it. St. Croix is the largest of the Virgin Islands most people on the island get there water from cisterns on their property. This is a reservoir that collects rain water So instead of the gutters on the house going to the yard they go to the cistern. It is very tropical and warm all year round the coldest it gets is in the low 70's or high 60's check weather channel.com for the averages. There is public transportation but it is only buses and it does not take you most places so you need to have a car. Also the people of St. Croix or mainly of African decent with a large Hispanic population from Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. Go to the census website for more exact figures. Of the three US VI i think it has the most history. As far as the most preserved history. There are many old sugar cane mills from slavery days and even old plantations that you can visit. There is an island off the coast called Buck island that has the first underwater national park. It has a huge coral reef around it and tourist go there and snorkel and scuba dive all the time.
