What's the best time to travel to the carribean? |
Travel Info What's the best time to travel to the carribean? Travel Tips anytime! Others immediately july during the off season, I went in November and it was perfect! WEATHER great, temp just right about 80 degrees with light breezes, not crowded and prices were at the best for that time of year. I took a cruse there so I recommend early to mid Nov. You won't regret it. I used to live in Barbados. You want to go during the summer, ideally. The weather is ideal and you get the true experience. It gets a little chillier in the winter, chillier than usual, which is probably like an average American summer. That depends on where in the Caribbean you want to go. My personal preference is Barbados (year-round). They haven't been hit by a major hurricane in decades, so booking a trip during the hurricane season won't cause as much worries as say the Virgin Islands or Puerto Rico during that time. The same would apply for Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao, Trinidad & Tobago, and St. Vincent. So for any of those islands, just about anytime is good. High season (and most expensive) is Christmas time or during one of the islands Carnival seasons. If you aren't interested in Carnivals, but would like to go during the cheapest time, I'd say go in May (after the winter holidays - dec thru april, before summer break & hurricane season). Also the first two weeks of December is right before high season starts and right when hurricane season ends. Great deals during that time. As mentioned by others... it depends on you. We've traveled the Caribbean from Dec to July and I agree that our best overall trips have been in the late June / early July season. The weather has been seasonally temperate, the diving wonderful and there were no issues with bugs etc. Most islands and water temperatures are stable and don't vary much. You'll get more sunshine during the summer and have less tourists to deal with. You will also find that flights / accomodations can be less expensive - allowing you to stay longer or explore more. Personal choice... try a catamaran trip... its amazing... we cycle all of our catamaran trips with a week ashore in whatever region we are in. Thus far... BVI is our favorite but we're off to St. Vincent and the grenadines this June / July so we may just change our mind. |
