Having done this trip a few times, basically straight there...allow considerable set for the Gulf Stream, so head
( without a chart in front of me I'm approximating) Charleston SC and you should come in right on target.....two things...crossing the Stream against a N or NE wind will be rough........and Capes Fear and Lookout extend 20 odd miles out and you will be in a world of trouble if your navigation is out and you run over them..if you have time in hand and a mast shorter than 65 feet, go into Charleston then up the ICW,,,a very pleasant and civilized trip. Figure 10 to 14 days.........wave as you go by St Thomas! |
