Where is the best place to stay in St. John (U.S. Virgin Island)?

Travel Info
We want to go there in Oct for our honeymoon, and I'm looking at places to stay. We want a small relatively private cottage, NOT a crowded resort. Any suggestions? Contact info would be appreciated.

Travel Tips
Check out this website WWW.VIVACATIONS.COM. It will give you info on private cottages for rent with photos, prices, phone numbers and sometimes availability of the property during the days you want.

Caneel bay, beautiful area, beautiful beach, good view of BVI
go to www dot cateredto dot com. there are some amazing private villas there. u can get smaller or bigger ones, these are more on the expensive side but real nice. most have a pool and/or hot tub and more than likely great views.
Cinnamon Bay Campground has screened porches cabins on the hillside above a fantastic beach. I lived on st. Thomas for 19 years and captained charter sail boats for 5 years through out the US Virgin Islands and the British Virgin Islands.
The second link below is for Jost Van Dyke in the BVI.
White Bay is the most private cottage setting with a truly marvelous beach. A more private getaway you will not find.
It is a small island.... St John does have Canneel Bay but it is very expensive and kind of snooty.
...Both islands are beautiful.
...A third choice you might consider would be to charter a sail boat for a week..probably $3-4K all exclusive. Check out charter yacht services on St Thomas.

Nothing compares to Caneel. Imagine being outdoors on an open patio under the stars, on the edge of a pristine beach with gentle surf, dining by candlelight on a five-star gourmet dinner with fine wine, with classical music playing and waiters at your beck and call. Or having a blast at an all-you-can-eat lobster barbecue where the reggae and rum punch last all night. Tennis, snorkeling, sailing... or just vegging out in a hammock with a good book. Plenty of private or semi-private cottages scattered all over the property. It's a little piece of heaven.
