Traveling to US Virgin Islands - Do I need to have my passport, or is Driver's Licesne good enough? |
Travel Info When traveling to the US Virgin Islands from the US mainland, do I need to travel with my US passport or is the driver's license sufficient enough? Travel Tips As of Dec.31st,2004, because of 9/11, you will be needing a US Passport when traveling to the Virgin Islands. Others Driver's license and an original copy of you birth certificate will work. as a us territory drivers license is enough, but you will fibnd things alot easier to deal with and id verification alot easier with the us passport. safety and every thing considered if you can get the passport Since the Virgin Islands are part of the US you don't need a passport just photo id and birth certificate. Check the Identification section of this link: http://www.here.vi/tourist_tips/tourist_... Driver's License if fine but if you have a passport that will make it a bit easier for you. even though the virgin islands are us territory, you are going to ulitimately need one for every country including canada and mexico - see attached link: http://travel.state.gov/travel/cbpmc/cbp... should have at minimum, proof of ciitzenship (i.e. certified copy of birth certificate) - driver's license is not proof of citizenship. best advice - get a passport if possible. |
