How bad are the mosquitoes in the US Virgin Islands in March? |
Travel Info I'm thinking about going but despise mosquitoes. I'm living in Manhatten now. Its either the Virgin Islands or all the way West to Maui. What do you think? Travel Tips There is no "mosquito season" per say. The only time there is a significat increase in the # of mosquitoes is after the impact of a hurricane. This is due to the massive amounts of standing water that is a result of the rain from the hurricane. Otherwise in the evenin and at night use bug repellent and if possible wear long pants. You will be fine. Also if you stay in an airconditioned hotel or villa you wont have to worry about mosquites when you are sleeping at night. Source(s): Virgin Islands born and raised Other Travel Tips after rains is when it's the worst where it's really damp, and besides for the occasional rainfall you shouldn't worry too much. It's not hurricane season in march so there shouldn't be an insance amount of rain. so there's not much to worry about, enjoy your trip or stay, where sunscreen and stay away from anything too scented which attracts them. it's beautiful there. you'll love it. definently go to the virgin islands..i love it and been there more than once and never even gotten bit by one! honest to god...i mean im sure they have them but in my opinion on st.john it wasnt even as bad as in alabama/florida....i never saw one in the VI like i said...and i hate maui now that ive been the the VI |
