Whats open In Washington D.C. on the 4th of July? |
Travel Info Are all the museums open as well? I want to attend the fireworks but of course all the museums as well. Travel Tips Ohh! I absolutely love D.C. I have been there twice and its so cool. If you are there the Fourth of July you will see a wonderful firework display. It goes on for about a hour. But when you leave be careful cause the streets are packed. Dont leave the fireworks on the subway! i went to the Air and Space Museum three times. The many many things to see there are just fabulous. They have everything from the first landing on the moon to whats going on now. They have models of all the first plains and spacecrafts. They also have fun places for children and educational too. the Washington National Cathedral is the biggest church in washington. they have music, good sermons and it really gets you in touch with god. even if you are a first time visitor they welcome you with open arms. One of the best transportation is the Gray Lin Trolly. They have stops at Holiday Inn Capital, Arlington Cemetery, Post Office, Ronald Reagen Building, and so much more. But if you prefere taxis or the subway they centainly are an experience themselves. The Arlington National Cemetery is a beutiful place to visit. Over 275,000 service men and woman are laid to rest on 624 acres of land. About 24 burials are conducted every weekday. The three un- known soldiers memorial there is a awesome place to see. The changing of the guards is cool to whatch too. Also the Kennedy gravesites are beutiful. It only cost around 5 dollars for the tourmobile sightseeing and you will see the Kennedy Gravesite, Tomb of the Unknowns and the Arlington House. The Library of Congress is a beutiful site also. You can take a tour and you will get to see everything. Mount Vernon is wonderful. It will tale around an hour in the summer to see the house. You will get a tour of all the rooms and every purpose of them and then go see the tomb of George Washington and his family. They have wonderful gardens, horse stables, a lake and so much more. You will see a video and when you leave you will know everything there is to know of our first president. They have a wonderful zoo there. Make sure to go to the Spy Museum. It wont look big on the outside but its huge on the inside. It will be an experience you will never forget. Go to the Lincoln Memorial, the Jefferson Memorial, the Veatnam wall and just have fun!!! Others why wouldn't they be? I would assume so even if it is 4th of july they want to attract tourists everything else like amusement parks and such are open. I'm almost positive museums will be open. I would call the museums to confirm that they were open before I went. Number one thing there is a giant fireworks display which is a must on the 4th. The museums are open and the sights. There are so many things to do there that you will need a few days so if there is one thing closed on the 4th. you can visit on the other days. Prepare for a Hot day -take water and a blanket to sit on to view the spectactular fireworks. Yes, most if not all museums are open on the 4th of July. But you want to visit for a few days. there is so much to see and do. Get to the lawn between the Capitol & Monument early, or you won't have a good spot to see the fireworks. It gets crowded. Have fun, and don't get lost. As long as I lived there, I still got lost...and D.C. is but so big! Former resident of Maryland The only day of the year that the Smithsonian is closed is Christmas. So they're open on July 4th. http://www.si.edu/visit/hours.htm... Actually the Smithsonian's website is good http://www.si.edu |
