Driving from Chesapeake,VA to D.C. , anything on the way to see?

I am going to drive for a weekend and want to spend 1 day in DC. Anything on the way that I should see, sights,towns,etc?

If you love to shop stop at Potomac Mills Mall in the Woodbridge area of Virginia, a ton of outlet stores, great prices. The town of Quantico, Old Town Alexandria, Mount Vernon, Great Falls, VA or MD.

Gadsby's Taver on Asaph and Queen great place for lunch!
Mount Vernon, the home of George Washington is a must see. It is near Alexandria, Va.
If you'll take the Bay bridge-tunnel, and go up through Eastern Shore, I think you'll be glad you did. It's beautiful, in a quaint sort of way.
Williamsburg and Fredericksburg are nice stops. The new Marine Corps museum opened in December and is off 95 in Quantico.
