Best route from Annapolis to Silver Spring? |
Travel Info I'm looking for the best route and times to commute from Annapolis to Silver Spring. I can be flexible on the times. Travel Tips Take US 50 West to I-97 North to MD 32 West to US 29 South. The route goes a little out of your way and you will see traffic on US 29 South. Other than traffic lights on US 29 between New Hampshire Ave. and Silver Spring, this may be a better alternate than the Capital Beltway. Or, you can take US 50 into DC to Florida Ave. to Georgia Ave. Again, you will sit in delays on US 50 as well as the traffic lights on Florida and Georgia Aves. Others Go RT 50 west to beltway go west to Georgia ave exit and go north and you are there be careful allot traffic on rush hour am and pm.. good luck.. The answer above is good, but they forgot to mention you should go North on I-495 / I-95 (the beltway) which from US-50 *may* say that it's towards silver spring, possibly says Baltimore as well. So in reiteration: take US-50 west towards Washington Exit onto I-495 / I-95 north (towards Silver spring / Baltimore?? ) at exit 27 continue on I-495 West (Left hand side, I-95 continues on the right) at exit 31B take Georgia Avenue south into Silver Spring If you don't want to deal with the Beltway at all, you can stay on route 50 all the way into DC, where it becomes New York avenue. stay on New York ave, till you get to north capitol street. make a right and go north through dc till you hit missouri. make a left on missouri for about 3/4 of a mile and then right on georgia ave. that's going to bring you right into SS Oh Jeez, don't go through town (50 all the way through DC) it will take you forever. 50 to the Beltway 495 is the most direct way as several have said. Rush hour is horrid in this area, so be prepared if you a traveling between 7-9 am or 4-7 pm. You can also take 97 from Annapolis, merge on to 32 and follow to 95, take 95 towards Washington and then on to 495. Also SS is a very big area, it's one of the largest cities in Maryland, extending from the DC line all the way out to the Howard County line covering about 7 zipcodes. Depending on what part of SS you are going to you might use New Hampshire Ave, Colesville Road/Rt 29, or Georgia Ave exits of 495 Live in the area |
