The winter in Washington will last until when?

Travel Info
My friend will be going to Washington for business trip from April - June. As I know, it's winter in Washington now. Can I know the winter will last until when? Please send me some website related to Washington if you have any. Thanks.

Right now the Cherry Blossoms are about to bloom so Spring is just around the corner. The weather is pleasant right now, and the lows are in the upper 40s. The highs are in the low 70s. March is in like a lion and out like a lamb. By April the weather is warm and by June it's unbelievably hot.

It varies by year. It snowed 2 weeks ago, tomorrow it's supposed to be in the high 70s. Cherry Blossom Festival is usually in April (April 1-7 this year), and the weather is usually milder by then. Below is the link to the DC tourist web site - that should help you.

April to June is the best time of year for DC. It is an absolutely beautiful city and the flowers in spring are spectacular. If staying here that long, aside from all of the main attractions like the National Mall, I would go to see the National Arboretum. Even though it is in the city, you have to drive to get to it because there is no metro stop there.

Here's the Arboretum website: http://www.usna.usda.gov/

Other sites to see are, the FDR Memorial (my favorite) and Jefferson Memorial (they are close walking distance from each other), The Awakening (no Metro stop so you need to drive to it), the Jefferson building of the Library of Congress is newly renovated and is one of the most beautiful buildings in the world (be sure to see the Grand Reading Room), the Maine St. outdoor seafood market (Metro is about a 10 minute hike from L'Enfant Plaza), Georgetown (Wisconsin and M St.) and the Georgetown waterfront (particularly pretty at night).

Nightlife fun places: Adam's Morgan, DuPont Circle, Clarendon (in Va, but Metro is right there)

Shopping Malls (Pentagon City is huge, convenient, and cool looking), and Union Station (not as big, but also cool looking).

The best deal in town is a Sunday buffet at a restaurant called The Market Inn. For $25 you get all you can eat crab legs and shrimp, all the champagne you can drink, and a fantastic New Orlean's jazz trio plays every week. It's about a 10 minute walk to the metro or you can cab it.

The next best deal is bruch at Filamena in Georgetown. It is small and tight space, but the decorations are beautiful and the food is all you can eat buffet Italian and it is some kind of special delicious.

The best tour is the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (people call it the Mint, but it's not). I thought it was fascinating. Man is that a lot of money!

The subway (Metro) is pretty good, but not great. Somewhere between San Francisco's and New York City's.

Another thing to do while in town is to drive to Baltimore on a Saturday and check out Inner Harbor during the day and Fells Point at night. It's a great one-day adventure.

Tell your friend to have fun. Washington is a worldclass city, especially for sightseeing.
I've lived in the DC area my whole life.
Its pretty much done. In the 60's consistently.
Actually it's really pretty much over. It is extremely rare to have snow or even heavy frost this late in the season and it should be getting into the 70s shortly. The cherry blossoms should be starting to bloom by now and are generally at their peak around April 1.
