Besides the Smithsonian, which is actually several museums, there's the National Archives, the US Mint, the Holocaust Museum, the National Geographic, the White House Museum. Kennedy Center, Rock Creek Park, the National Zoo, the National Cathedral - complete with a Darth Vader Gargoyle! And then there are the monuments and memorials: Washington, Lincoln, Roosevelt, Vietman, Korean, WWII, Jefferson, the Navy Memorial. And the Buildings: the White House, the Capitol Building, the Old Post Office, the Supreme Court..... That's just stuff in the District, there's also Arlington and the Pentagon. It has all of our nations history there and it honors man many people. Make sure that you go see as many memorals and museums as you can. The white house would also be awsome to see. See as much as you can...it is awasome ( I want to go back) It's cool. The capital, White House, Washington Monument, Lincoln Monument, Vietnam Memorial, Korea War Memorial. The Smithsonian Institute is awesome.I took my daughter when she was 14 and she thought it would be boring but she loved it and didn't want to leave. Check out where they make the money, that was very interesting, I can't think of the name right now. Good Luck and have a great time. i went with my school a couple of years ago and it was amazing. by far the best place to by souvenirs would be the Smithsonian Museum of American History. it has a great shop and was my favorite place on the trip. http://americanhistory.si.edu/ I go there quite often. There are many, many, museums of all interests. The Space Museum is wonderful. The National Gallery of Art is great, and of course the Smithsonian. Iffn yo gonna bee ther on monday, yo gotta yo stuff togetherr. Get away from your skool groop an head to SouthEast in Anacostia. It bee da koolest part of town an yo can hook up wit anyting yo wants. |
