Where to go in D.C.? |
Travel Info my family & i are going to D.C. in the middle of july.. what are some places that we should make sure we go to? and is there anything else i should know about it? Travel Tips If you are going during the Independence Day holiday, definitely go down on The Mall and see the fireworks. Check out the Lincoln Memorial, Smithsonian, and Spy Museum. Go to Georgetown and Adams Morgan. Pick up the Washington Post Sunday paper for great information on what to see and do. Pay special attention to The Washington Post Magazine's dining section. Tom Sietsema has great reviews of restaurants. Ask locals for tips. Try to use the Metro as much as possible. Have fun and be safe! Check the site below for more info. Source(s): http://www.washington.org Other Travel Tips I definitely recommend going to the Smithsonian. I have been to DC 2 times and gone there both times and still have not had enough time to see everything I wanted to. It is so interesting for all ages. Also, try and go to the Holocaust museum as it is awesome as well. The Smithsonian!!!! There's enough there for a hundred vacations! Also the National Zoo and Arboretum, all the memorials and monuments, Arlington National Cemetery, Embassy Row, the Declaration of Independence at the National Archives... and tons of other things. Don't take your car into D.C. Park at a park-and-ride and take the metro in. If you go to the capitol, be prepared to have your purse/person searched; ANY kind of weapon can land you in jail. Be prepared to wait in line; also take an umbrella - DC is HOT in the summer! |
