What airport is closest to Georgetown University in Washington D.C.? |
Travel Info Which airport do you reccomend? Travel Tips National airport (now known as Reagan National , DCA ) is closest, & easily accessible via the local metro train/subway. Washington Dulles (IAD) is only about a 20 minute drive away in Northern VA.. If it saves you some money , or has better flight schedules you might also consider Balt/Wash Intl (BWI) It's about a 45 minute drive , depending on traffic. All three airports have shuttle vans which will take you most any place local for under $25. Source(s): Born & raised in MD suburbs, my father operates an air charter business. Other Travel Tips welll there are only two airports near Washington DC (well unless you are the President that is or miltary brat you have DCA (national) or Dulles airports if you are the President or a miltary brat then theres andrews AFB Reagan National DCA As far as the most convenient, absolutely Washington-Reagan National Airport (DCA) is the easiest by far. It's the smallest of the major airports in the area and definitely the closest to Georgetown University. (Just across the river from DC and probably 5 miles from G'town). Washington-Dulles International (IAD) is huge and pretty far out of the city - probably 20 miles or more. The third option - probably the second-easiest airport and maybe the cheapest - is Baltimore/Washington Int'l. Airport (BWI). Generally when I fly to DC to visit and not for work (i.e. my company's not paying for it) - which is several times a year - BWI is often the cheapest airport. But if DCA is only slightly more to fly into then it's absolutely worth it - it might even be cheaper in the long run even if the flight's a little more because it's a shorter trip to G'town from the airport. So the short answer is, definitely go with National Airport. By far the easiest. I fly to DC several times a month (and grew up there). There are 4 airports in the Washington D.C. area. I hate Reagan and Baltimore Washington. I would recommend Washington Dulles International. Dulles Airport is in Northern Virginia and it is about 30 minutes from Washington D.C. It is a really easy drive to D.C. There is also Leesburg airport but that is for small private jets. |
