Driving from DC to NY today. What time?

Travel Info
What time should i leave?
Earliest I'd be able leave is 4. Is that crazy? Should i wait till later? I'm taking the usual route, 495 from Bethesda to 95 to the NJ turnpike.

Travel Tips
Hi Cindy,
4 PM Friday afternoon on 95 to Baltimore is the Pits. After your north of Baltimore things calm down and you should have no problems. I did this last Friday (my daughter is on spring break from a Massachusetts college). I left at 4 PM and did not get past Baltimore till about 6:30 arriving in New York a little after 10 PM. I suspect that you could save up to an hour if you waited till 6:30 or 7 pm. The roads will be heavy but they shouldn't be stop and go between DC and Baltimore like they will be earlier. I'm betting you will save an hour on your drive by waiting 2-1/2 hours.

leave after the rush hour so u won't get stuck in traffic.
ur trip will take about six hours
leaving at that time can be hard because of rush our traffic. i think you should wait until after rush hour to travel. also, i found that yahoo offer a service of map quest. i compared the two and received a shorter distance from yahoo. have a safe trip.
if you can't leave until 4pm, you should wait until after 7 or 8 pm, when the heaviest traffic dies down.

rush hour started at noon today, and is never ending
wait till after 7pm...
Depends on you and how long you want to sleep in. It is about a 4 1/2 hr drive or so, depending on exactly where in NY you are going
