Temple Hills, MD?

Travel Info
Is this a safe area? I have never been to DC and am thinking of subleasing a place for the summer near the Naylor Rd. Metro, and just want to be sure that it is a relatively safe area.

Travel Tips
By some people saying it is safer than it used to be can be construed as "you might only get robbed and not stabbed" after 6 pm.

Temple Hills is not a safe place. It is not one that tourists go to at all. It is all minority and is a big drug market area. Lots of muggings and quite a few killings each month.
Others
Its not as bad as it used to be, but no its not a good area. I wouldn't recommend it for someone not familiar with the pg county or dc area. If you want something relatively safe try ne or nw dc, montgomery county md or alexandria, or arlington va.
It's alright, not great but not terrible. It's spotty in some areas. Friend of mine owns a townhouse in Temple Hills and it's so-so, but some parts are really nice. I would come and see it if you can.
Temple Hills is an ok place to live, but since you are new to the area i would not recommend leasing a place there. Temple Hills is part of Prince Georges County, Md, if that is the county you want to live in then there are better cities to choose from. (Is having the metro close by a priority?) The best cities to choose from would be Upper Marlboro, Bowie, Fort Washington, Largo (to an extent) and Clinton (to an extent). These particular cities are the suburbs; Upper Marlboro is the best.

If you would like a different county then try Montgomery county; it's a pretty safe place to live. Cost of living is higher than in P.G. County, but it is an overall safer place to live. And the metro does reach that far.

If you decide to check out places in D.C. look in N.W. (Northwest) D.C. Most of those neighborhoods are safe and that's where alot of businesses are located (as well as Capitol Hill and the White House, etc.
I live in P.G. County. Been here my whole life.
Temple Hills is not necessarily the safest place in my opinion. Why not check Annapolis or Edgewater, both near the bay, boating, site seeing and close to DC
