I want to go to the National Zoo in DC. Looking for a hotel that is reasonable($85 a nite).? |
Travel Info That is in a good neighborhood, clean and no bugs. I don't mind taking the train, as long as its not a far walk. I have a 2 month old to stroll around. It doesn't have to be in Washington DC. Travel Tips I went up to DC over Easter and stayed two nights, I checked all the online booking sites and ended up booking through hotwire.com because it gave the cheapest rates, and the highest star rating. It was a nice and clean place near several fast food resturants. We staied in VA as it as the cheapest, but we were only 30min out of DC and I visited the Museum of Natural History while we were up there. Others national zoo sucks, but if ur with a 2 yr old id guess itd be for him. Take the subway to woodley something... park n zoo EXP Do you belong to AAA? If you do, you can call your local office and they can search for a hotel with a AAA discount for you. That'll save you a lot of legwork! Have a great trip! I'm an employee of AAA It's going to be tough to find a hotel in that range ($85 a night) in DC - DC is an expensive place. That said you will do best to stay in the suburbs at this price. But you will need to stay way out to accomplish it. I'd check Maryland first - New Carrollton has a hotel, and there are several in Fairfax, VA along Arlington Blvd, but that is truly WAY out. If you can go up to about $100, your options open up considerably. The Americana Hotel in Crystal City is in that Range as is the Hotel Harrington, right downtown. But why don't you consider staying at Washington's Youth Hostel? It's about $35 a person, and can be family friendly if you pre-arrange. That's probably your best bet. I think the zoo is lovely, espcially for kids - although it is big. Make sure to bring a stroller. It also can be quite crowded on weekends. When you go, if you take metro, get off at the Cleveland Park metro station, then head DOWNHILL. The Woodley Park/Zoo station is marginally closer but uphill. Then when you leave the zoo, turn left and go down the hill to catch the metro at Woodley Park/Zoo.
