It is nice and cheaper than staying righ next to down town. It is only a 10 mile drive into the city or you can take the metro. Others The White House the white house area or the capitol building area, here are some hotels to look at: Holiday Inn Capital Hay-Adams The Hotel Harrington Although if you are looking for a cheaper way check out staying in VA right across the river for Arlington, VA hotels visit www.stayarlington.com for DC hotels visit www.washington.org Arlington, VA. There is a nice cheap Best Western off route 270 in MD where we have stayed. I think they call it the Washington Gateway. Also, check out the entertainment card rate for the Holiday Inn Alexandria, Historic District by the DCA airport. We got a good rate that way and it was charming, nice neighborhood with little shops and restaurants and across the street from a Giant supermarket with a hot and cold salad bar. There was a shuttle from the airport and the Metro is at the airport. We did not need a car. The staff were very nice. The Hotel Harrington or the Hotel Phoenix.
