One of the largest outlet malls is Potomac Mills between Williamsburg, VA and Washington DC off of 95. See the link I included. Of course if you are in to history, then Jamestown might be a good place begin it is celebrating its 400th anniversary.

If you're up for something that's light and fun, I recommend the Williamsburg ghost tour. Info is at http://www.theghosttour.com/

You may be able to find Busch Gardens coupons at one of the rest stops along the interstate, or at a nearby tourist info center. Also, we used to find coupons on cans of Coke. I don't know if they still do that, but it's worth a short trip to the grocery store to check. Otherwise just ask around. You shouldn't have to pay the full price of a ticket.
The national monuments are great to see-Lincoln memorial, Vietnam, Korean, WWII, etc. Also visit the Smithsonians. I loved the American History one best, but it's closed for a year for rennovations. Whenever possible, use the Metro to get around. Cab rides are expensive, but the Metro is cheap, clean and on time.
If you like shopping there are plenty of outlets in Va.
Also, all the old world country and tours. Great Place. I go there 3 times a year.

In DC there are many museums, The White House, The Washington Monument, The Capitol.
