Where is the best hotel value in the Washington DC area?

Travel Info
flying into Reagon International. 1 adult, 2 children (12 and 10). Looking to feel safe!!!!, free internet access and all other expected amenities. Not really intersted in lower than 3 star. Dont really need 4 star, but would consider if a great value.
When searching travelocity there is so many, you never know which ones are the best deals.
None of them offer a "great view of the city", so maybe you can help me know what to look for..?
thanks for any help.
We are looking for easy transportation into the Smithsonian, White House, etc.

Travel Tips
Check out the Marriott Courtyard on the Eisenhower expressway. It's on the south side of DC, walking distance (just across the bridge) from the Eisenhower Metro station (the third stop south of Reagan).

It's about $190 a night, which is a STEAL in DC. Pretty much everything else is $250 and up.

To the Smithsonian, White House, etc., you will have to take some form of transportation north, then northeast. I think the metro runs that way.
