Where did washington dc accents come from? |
Travel Info what peopled settled in washington dc that gives them that northern/southern mix accent Travel Tips Everything about DC is a little different than anywhere you are likely to travel. The accents, apparel, music, and another niche that has been branded upon us; the thirst for violence. All together it round-balls the city into one unique place. You could probably attribute the accent to not wanting to be considered to Up-North or Down-South. Others DC is situated between the North and South almost right in between, therefore you get the northerners and southerners mixing in one big city. I do not notice the accent though...maybe it is since I've lived here my whole life. I'm going to school in Virginia, raised mostly in California, and I have never noticed a Washington, DC accent. I've lived near there and been there several several times and I have never, ever noticed an accent. but there might be a mixture of pharses that come from the north and south since it's right in the middle. Having lived there before I don't notice much of an accent. But if you go out of DC and drive out into VA for an hour you will hear more of a southern accent. Fauquier for example. But I'm so used to the DC accent I don't notice it. |
