Where was the White house located before it was moved to DC? |
Travel Info Everyone thinks Im crazy, but the white house was never white it was black and it wasnt in DC. When the birtish burned it down they moved it and then re-painted it white. Am I right or wrong? Travel Tips The White House has always been in DC; however, you are right, it wasn't always white, it was repainted after the war of 1812. I can't imagine it actually being black however! The first president to reside in the White House was John Adams. Washington resided in New York during his terms Others Whiote was originally buit in Washington DC. It never moved. and what the heck...check www.whitehouse.gov I think you're confused with the nation's capital city, which was originally located in Philadelphia. The White House itself, however, has always been in Washington DC. I been to the white house and it wasn't actually white...I was like an off white or cream color there was no white house before the white house we no of today the capital was in NY i think |
