How deep is the D.C metro? |
Travel Info How deep is the D.C metro? Travel Tips There are a couple of stations I've been to with very long escalators, for example Woodley ParK/National Zoo/Adams Morgan, and the NIH station. Others It varies from station to station... But the deepest station is Forest Glen, which is on the red line. It's 200 feet below ground, so deep that it doesn't even have esclators (only a bank of elevators). Also not all of it is underground. Outside the city large parts of the metro is above ground. For example the orange line comes up to ground level just past Ballston station and is at ground level to the end, Vienna. And it's actually elevated slightly in someplace, e.g. blue line at National airport. |
