Travel Info What could one do with a tuxedo in Washington DC. That one couldn't do without a tuxedo in Washington DC? Travel Tips Attend a state dinner or an inaugural ball. Or attend some of the much tonier fundraisers, political or non-political. Possibly this fall's opening of the new Shakespeare Theatre. That is just about it, and you generally have to be invited. The fancier restaurants, the Opera, the Kennedy Center, Theatre, all really allow for a variety of dress. Although you CAN wear a tux to the Opera, the KC, the Shax theatre, some of the tonier restaurants if you want to, you could also go in a regular suit (or in some cases in jeans.) So if you are traveling here you can leave the tux home. Others Go to a state dinner or the opera. Of course you don't need a TUX for anything other than the State dinner. and that invitation only will tell you what to wear. eg. black tie , or formal atire. It's going to depend on your affluence and profession as to how many black ties you get invited to. There are TONS of black tie events- fundraisers, parties, political dinners, etc. , I bet you could go to one more more a week if you wanted to. Lobbyist who attends a lot of events! |
